Stop Tarnishing Our Father's Image, Abacha Family Tackles IBB

  Family of late Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha (rtd) has cautioned former Military President Gen. Ibrahim Babangida against tarnishing the image of the former military leader. A statement on Sunday b y Mohammed Abacha, the Abacha family noted that Gen. Babangida had in his recent book titled, “A Journey in Service” alleged that the annulment of the June 12, 1993, presidential election “was the responsibility of the late General Sani Abacha.” IBB and Aikhomu decorating Abacha with his new rank. Abacha’s family said the claim sparked widespread controversy and necessitate a clear response in the interest of historical accuracy and justice.  The statement which described the allegation as false, said, “Any attempt to shift this blame onto General Sani Abacha, who was a very senior military officer within the regime, is a deliberate distortion of historical facts. The Korwai tribe from (Indonesia) wasn’t discovered by the world until 1970.

The Korowai tribe, actually from southeastern Papua in Indonesia, was indeed isolated from the rest of the world until the late 1970s. They were first contacted by anthropologists in 1974, led by Peter Van Arsdale, Robert Mitton, and Mark Grundhoefer. Before this encounter, the Korowai had minimal contact with outsiders and maintained their traditio nal way of life, including living in treehouses and practicing shifting cultivation. Their isolation helped preserve their unique culture and beliefs, which are still not fully understood by the Western world. Interestingly, the Korowai's isolation was also influenced by their spiritual beliefs, which discouraged them from interacting with outsiders. They believed that pale-skinned ghost demons, the "laloe," would bring destruction to their land if they made contact.
