I’m changing the notion that actresses don’t make a good wife – Mercy Johnson

Image
Nollywood actress, Mercy Johnson, has debunked claims that most actresses do not make a good wife. In a chat with Leadership, she used her own marriage as an example, revealing that her secret is honesty and being humble in spite of the fame. Speaking on the general notion that actresses do not make good wives, the mother of three said, “Well, I can only speak from my own perspective and when I say my perspective, I mean from my personal experiences, marriage and relationship with my husband. One of the biggest lies anyone can tell himself/herself is using one or more random experiences to judge and stereotype others. We all have our different stories to tell. I have three children for my husband today and he has not stopped talking about how down-to-earth I was yet I am an actress; not just any actress.”  Mercy added that although she had a large ‘following’ at a time, she did not go around ‘pouting’ her lips or ‘playing the snub.’ The ‘Dumebi’ thespian went further to rev

The House of Representatives has insisted that the 2016 budget of over N6 trillion would be thorough overhauled

The House of Representatives has insisted that the 2016 budget of over N6 trillion would be thorough overhauled by the National Assembly so as to bring it in line with current economic realities. The President had last week presented the N6.08 trillion budget before the National Assembly with a bench mark of crude oil pegged at $38 per barrel while the actual price had dipped far below the projected budget figure. However, House Minority Leader, Leo Ogor while reacting to whether the budget was implementable said the President should know that whatever estimates he sent to the National Assembly were “mere proposals,” which might not stand eventually.“What we have before us are mere proposals. None is sacrosanct. “That is why we are the legislature, which has the power of appropriation. “The proposals will be subjected to thorough overhauling, taking into cognisance the current economic realities of the country and our revenue expectations from funding sources,” he said

W e have heard so much about your rift with Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh. tell us, what has been going on? First, of all, I want to thank Nigerians. I appreciate the passion, the criticism, everything. I want to say a very big thank you. On the issue on ground, I think this is not the best way to treat someone who has served the country with so much enthusiasm and so much passion, so much dedication, you know, commitment. I think I have honoured almost all the matches I have been invited to play for the Super Eagles. So to be treated the way I was treated a couple of days ago, I personally don’t

"But in case Kanye is serious about this whole POTUS (President of the United States) thing, or as he calls it Peezy, I do have advice for him." He said: "First of all, you've got to spend a lot of time dealing with some strange characters who behave like they're on a reality TV show. "So you've got to be cool with that." Obama had clearly done his home

Yenagoa (Nigeria) (AFP) - A former governor of Nigeria's oil-rich Bayelsa state wanted by London to face money-laundering charges died on Saturday, an official statement said. "(Diepreye) Alamieyeseigha died Saturday evening at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching (Specialist) Hospital where he was receiving medical care," the Bayelsa state government said in the statement. MARRAIGE AND MARRIED!

AVOIDING A BAD MARRIAGE. By Pastor Chris Oyakhilome PhD. After salvation, the most important choice you will need to make is who to marry. This choice is so important that if you miss it, you will suffer for long, if you get it right then you will enjoy forever. A bad marriage can affect every other area of your life. This subject is so important, so many married people are hoping to be single again so as to make the right choice. If you are single please don't just be in a hurry to get married, you have the best opportunity to prepare for it. For two people to come together to live in peace and harmony, they must agree spiritually, mentally and physically. Just like an elephant cannot marry an ant so also a believer cannot marry an unbeliever. If an elephant marries an ant how would they live, if a goat marries a fish where would they meet? You must look for a Godly man or a Godly woman to marry, nothing can beat this. The devil's primary target is the family. He knows
IBB Backs Buhari To Recover Stolen Funds The former military president General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (retd) has thrown his weight behind President Muhammadu Buhari in the fight against corruption. General Babangida, who spoke in an interview with newsmen yesterday, August 16, to mark his 74th birthday said President Buhari has the capacity to recover Nigeria’s stolen funds, Leadership reports. He said: “My boss, President Olusegun Obasanjo created a similar strategy and, to be fair to him and his government, he made a lot of recoveries when he was in office; so we should support this present federal government in what is trying to do, to achieve the same objective. “If he is resolute, I believe he will achieve some degree of stolen funds. “You talk about oil theft, I am sure President Buhari is resolute to stamp out all those and to bring to book all those who have tampered especially in stealing our oil.” READ ALSO: Babangida Speaks Up For Nollywood, Read What He Said

SANDCAT ARMOURED TACTICAL VEHICLE Nigeria : US exporting arms to Nigeria despite ‘ban’ 14 AUGUST 2015 Despite a much touted “ban” allegedly preventing the United States from exporting arms to the Nigerian forces,Pentagon records show the US Army is sending military equipment, including armoured vehicles and ambulances, to Nigeria, which has been embroiled in counter-insurgency operations in the northeast. RADIO FRANCE INTERNATIONAL By Michel Arseneault President Muhammudu Buhari complained last month that the US had “aided and abetted the Boko Haram terrorists” by refusing to send arms to Nigeria forces on the grounds of “unproven allegations of human rights violations levelled”. In a speech before the US Institute of Peace, he blamed a “blanket application” of Leahy Laws, legislation introduced by Sen. Patrick J. Leahy to prohibit US public funds from being given to foreign military units involved in gross human rights violations. But Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA)
The National Planning Commission, NPC, has said the Transformation Agenda does not belong to any political party. The Head of Information of NPC, Salisu Badamasi, told the News Agency of Nigeria on Sunday that the Transformation Agenda was an aspect of the Vision 20:2020. The Transformation Agenda was popularly identified with the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, administration of immediate past President Goodluck Jonathan. Mr. Badamasi, however, said that when Mr. Jonathan came into office, he identified the Vision 20:2020 and focused on them. He said that the four areas of focus of the Transformation Agenda were governance, human capital development, infrastructure and real sector. According to him, President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration will also continue to implement the master plan for Nigeria’s economic development. He added that “the Agenda is based on and draws its inspiration from the Vision 20:2020 and has three National Implementation Plan (NIP) arrangements. “Th

Aburi: The “Sovereign National Conference” That Got Away By Max Siollun maxsiollun@yahoo.com

After Nigeria was dragged to the brink of the abyss by two military coups in 1966, its military leaders met to try to bring the country back from the brink. The meeting evolved into perhaps the best documented constitutional debate of all time which touched upon fundamental concepts regarding the balance of power between the central government and federating regions in a federation and professional soldiers’ outlook to military coups and seniority. It was a potential breakthrough occasion. Between January 5 th and 7th 1967, the members of Nigeria's then ruling military junta, the Supreme Military Council (SMC), met for the first time at Aburi in Ghana under the auspices of the Ghanaian Head of State: Lt- General Joe Ankrah. Ankrah was no stranger to coup plots as he had become Ghana’s first military Head of State after Ghana’s first President Kwame Nkrumah was deposed in a coup while Nkrumah was abroad visiting China. Ankrah was later forced to resign

U.S. Deploys Twelve A-10s to Romania to Deter Russian Aggression.

Image
The U.S. has deployed 12 A-10 Warthog planes to Romania as part of a theater-security effort to counter Russian aggression in Ukraine – all while debate over whether to retire the close-air support platform rages on in Congress and the Pentagon. "The 354th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron forward deployed 12 A-10 Thunderbolt II aircraft and approximately 200 Airmen and support equipment from Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany to Campia Turzii, Romania over the weekend," Pentagon spokesman James Brindle said. The deployment marks the first ever deployment of A-10s to Romania, he added. "The unit will conduct training alongside our NATO allies to strengthen interoperability and demonstrate U.S. commitment to the security and stability of Europe," Brindle explained. The deployment comes as the future of the A-10 platform lingers in a haze of uncertainty. The Air Force hopes to retire the planes and save more than $4 billion. Service officials say the A-1
