1. With regards to the trial of 97 officers of the
Nigerian Army for alleged offences in the
ongoing war against insurgency, the authorities
have inaugurated a General Court Martial to try
the officers. Among the officers are four
Lieutenant Colonels, a major, four captains, five
Lieutenants and one 2nd Lieutenant.
2. Boko Haram acclaimed leader, Abubakar
Shekau has appeared in a new video, debunking
the claims by the Nigerian military that he was
killed in an operation in Konduga. Shekau in the
new video obtained by AFP said he was alive
and well.
3.Nigerian Army has issued an immediate
statement in reaction to the claim by Shekau
that he is alive. The Army authority while
highlighting key areas to convince Nigerians
that the acclaimed leader was long dead termed
the new video by the sect as mere propaganda.
4. Olusegun Mimiko of Ogun state had on
Thursday formally returned to the Peoples
Democratic Party. He said his decision was
solely for the good of the nation. He made the
declaration at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, at an
event presided over by Vice President Namadi
Sambo and witnessed by the President of the
Senate, David Mark, as well as other PDP
leaders from the South West.
5. Report says a security guard attached to the
Bello Folawiyo Government Reserved Area in the
Ketu Ikosi area of Lagos, Mr. Odion
Aimeyekagbon, has been murdered by some
unknown assailants. A land grabber, identified
simply as Enibalomo, is currently being accused
of ordering the hoodlums to attack the guard.
6. The Northern Youth Leaders Forum, NLYF,
has said former President, Chief Olusegun
Obasanjo knew nothing about the plan to anoint
a Northern presidential candidate. The National
Chairman of the forum, Comrade Elliot Afiyo has
claimed that the former President did not
influence the decision to have Vice President,
Atiku Abubakar or the Kano State governor, Dr.
Rabiu Kwankwaso run for the position.
7. The Senate President, David Mark, on
Thursday said that even with the recent
happenings in Ekiti State, Mr. Ayo Fayose would
be inaugurated as the state governor on
October 16. Mark was speaking at the
Presidential Villa, Abuja, during the official
declaration of Governor Olusegun Mimiko for the
Peoples Democratic Party from the Labour
Party.
8. Respite went the way of the former Chairman
of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prince
Vincent Ogbulafor, yesterday as an Abuja High
Court, sitting in Maitama discharged and
acquitted him from the 17-count criminal
charge preferred against him by the
Independent Corrupt Practices and Other
Related Offences Commission, ICPC.
9. A former Managing Director of the News
Agency of Nigeria, Mrs. Remi Oyo, died on
Wednesday in the United Kingdom. Her
husband, Vincent Oyo, announced the death.
Report says she died at the aged of 61.
10. Actress Ini Edo has finally confirmed that all
is not well between her and her husband. While
admitting the sour relationship, the Actress in a
message posted on her Twitter page on
Thursday, equally refuted the rumour that she
cheated on her former husband.
