Open Letter To His Excellency, Barr. James Bala Ngilari: What Crime Has Ganye Chiefdom Committed Against Your Administration?:-
Your Excellency, let me congratulate you once
more on your victory at the Federal High Court
which declared you as the substantive Governor of
Adamawa State. In case you missed it, your
ascension came at the time when Ganye Chiefdom
has one of its own sons as the Secretary to the
State Government (Prof Liman Tukur from Jada)
and Chief of Staff to the Governor (Prof Maxwell
Gidado from Ganye) all of whom are successful in
their fields of discipline. The former as a
geographical expert and the other as a
constitutional mechanic.
With your ascension to power, all these vital
positions were gone in that Alh Chubado Tijjani
and Mr. Ibrahim Welye have replaced Liman and
Gidado as Secretary to the State Government and
Chief of Staff respectively. As it is now, Ganye
Chiefdom, populated mostly by the Chamba tribe
are not represented in your government. I hereby
apply to you for a rethink.
Politically, Ganye Chiefdom cannot be toy with
because of our numerical values and unity that
always produce a block vote for a candidate of our
choice. The implication is that the people of
Ganye Chiefdom will see this development as an
affront calculated to make useless their relevance
in the politics of Adamawa State thereby triggering
off our muscles to prove otherwise by supporting
the opposition party.
I have cautioned your predecessor, Rt. Hon.
Umaru Ahmadu Fintiri on the choice of a running
mate and the appointment of the former SSG
during his administration in that the choice of
Hon. Martins Babale by the APC as a running
mate has placed Ganye Chiefdom in a precarious
situation and unless his admiinistration pick a
running mate also from the zone, there will be
consequences. Your predecessor ignored this and I
was proven right when the then Acting went to the
zone for his campaign.
I am a grassroot democrat and I knew as of fact
that ethnicity plays a vital role among my people
and usually translates into our voting pattern. In
the light of this fact I Advised your predecessor
that the appointment of Prof Liman Tukur then as
SSG from Jada which is populated by the
Chambas was ill-advised and without foresight.
That it will be received with contempt by the
average voter in the Chamba settlements in Jada.
Although Liman is a detribalised gentleman who is
kind and honest to all devoid of ethnic or religious
inclinations but when it comes to a political
representation, the average Chamba man would
like to see a Chamba representing him. And this is
how PDP got it wrong in Jada then.
This development as in the case of Jada, as
political indices are showing, may likely repeat
itself in Ganye given the political scheming that
may see to the appointment of Fulani man as
Deputy Governor from Ganye. This will amount to
digging a political grave for our great party and by
the time this scheeming materialised, then PDP
will be history in Ganye Chiefdom.
Your Excellency, many will shy away from this
reality for fear of being tagged as ethnic war-lords
but given the interest of our party, PDP which is
to capture Ganye zone using all efforts humanly
possible, I cannot pretend to this reality.
As we share political posts, let us not forget the
fastest growing popularity of the All Progressives
Congress especially at Ganye Chiefdom
comprising of Ganye Jada and Toungo. The
influence of the Chiefdom goes beyond its
boundaries reaching up to Tola/Binyeri and some
parts of Fufore where Chamba people are found.
The choice of Hon. Martins Babale, Atiku's
presence all within Ganye Chiefdom should not be
waved away with the back of our hands. They
pose real and concrete political challenge to the
survival of PDP in the zone and unless we face
this reality, the party's success come 2015 in the
zone will be a pipe dream!
